Privacy policy
Folio is a browser-based resume editor. Your resumes save on your device first. You may choose to connect your own Google Drive to save or open Folio resume files.

Information you put in Folio
A resume may contain your name, contact details, work history, education, skills, writing, and an optional photo. Folio saves resumes, resume titles, design choices, reusable blocks, and linked Drive file IDs and modification times in this browser's local storage. A job description entered for the resume checker stays in page memory and is not saved by Folio. Exported backups and PDFs are downloaded to a location you choose.
Folio has no application backend, account database, analytics, or advertising service. The developer does not receive your resume content from the editor.
Optional Google Drive access
When you choose Connect Google Drive, Google asks you to authorize the drive.file permission. Folio uses that permission to create and update Folio JSON resume files in your Drive, list Folio files created by this app, read a file you choose to open, and check a linked file's modification time before overwriting it. Folio does not search or read unrelated files in your Drive, change file sharing settings, or delete Drive files.
A Drive save sends the current resume, including any optional photo, and your reusable block library directly from your browser to the Google Drive API. Opening a Drive resume sends that file directly from Google to your browser and saves it as a local resume. This Google data is used only for the save and open actions you request. Folio does not sell it, use it for ads or AI training, or transfer it to a developer-run server.
The Google access token is kept only in page memory, not in local storage or GitHub. Disconnect clears the token from Folio and asks Google to revoke it. Tokens expire, so you may need to connect again. You can also remove Folio's access in your Google Account settings.
Services that host the site and Drive
GitHub Pages serves the static website. If you use Drive, Google's sign-in and Drive services handle your authorization and files. Those services may process technical information under their own policies. Folio does not set analytics cookies. See the GitHub Privacy Statement and Google Privacy Policy.
Your choices and deletion
You can work without connecting Drive, download a JSON backup or PDF, and disconnect Drive at any time. To remove local Folio data, clear this site's browser storage or site data. To remove a resume saved in Drive, delete its .folio.json file in your own Google Drive. Clearing browser data does not delete Drive files, and deleting a Drive file does not automatically clear a local resume.
Local resume data remains on your device until you clear it. Drive files remain in your Drive until you delete them. Be careful on shared devices because browser storage is available to people who use the same browser profile.
Changes and contact
If Folio's use of data changes, this policy will be updated before the new use is introduced. For privacy or support questions, email danielphingston@proton.me.
